Magnetic filter-clarifier
FOM 150 and FOM 200 type

Purpose

Filter-clarifiers block solid contaminations that are drifted by water. They are installed on heating networks and district heating substations (before flow heat exchangers and elements of heating automatics). These appliances can cooperate with local water-pipe systems equipped with iron removers (high-rate sand filters) for additional cleaning of the water.

Technical Description
Filter-clarifier is a vertical container of cylindrical shape standing on feet. In cylindrical part of the container connection ferrules (inlet and outlet) and spigots for assembling filter and magnetic packs are placed. Filter pack is made of acid-resisting grid, while cleaning or exchanging is executed by unscrewing the cover. Set of permanent magnets that traps ferritic contaminations is located in the container's lower part, perpendicularly above the inlet spigot. Container's intake and outlet are equipped with spigots for connecting controlling manometers that allow determining contamination level of filter pack (increase in resistance of flow).
Upper head has ˝" spigot for deaerating the container, while in the cover of lower head's washout hole there is ˝" hole for water release.
Filter-clarifiers are made of corrosion-proof austenitic steel.
FOM type filter-clarifiers operate taking advantage of inertial forces, magnetic field forces and filtration phenomenon. Water stream that flows in through inlet spigot is directed to container's lower part. After slowing velocity flow down, thicker contaminations are precipitated because of inertia force. Contaminations having ferromagnetic properties are trapped by permanent magnets, while contaminations of smaller fraction are directed to filter pack in outlet spigot, where water is filtrated ultimately. Particular attention must be paid for direction of water flow through filter-clarifier in order to ensure correct operation.
